The SNOOPY'S Story

Steve and Sarah WebbSnoopy's is proud of its tradition as a local, family-owned and operated food stand.

Snoopy's began in 1978 when Steve Webb, a long time Raleigh native and local entrepreneur, decided to convert an old gas station on the corner of Wake Forest Road and Whitaker Mill into an eastern N.C. grill. It became instantly popular with customers who lined up for made to order hamburgers, cheeseburgers, and made-to-order piping hot French fries. As Snoopy's was the first fast food restaurant in Raleigh to stay open late, it quickly became known as "the place to go" after hours on Friday and Saturday nights.

Mr. Snoopy 1980The late 1980's saw the appearance of Mr. Snoopy, wearing his neat tuxedo, as well as, the opening of the store on the corner of Hillsborough St. and Glenwood Ave. Snoopy's also gained much media exposure during this time due to Steve's use of the marquee sign on Wake Forest Rd. to voice his occasional disgruntlement with various city ordinances and local current events.

Fun events throughout the years have included a pet look-alike contest in the 1990's and Fourth of July hot dog eating contests in 2004 and 2005. Snoopy's has also participated in Raleigh's annual Christmas Day Parade since 2004, most recently with its new customized VW Snoopy Mobile.

In 2003 the second store on Hillsborough St. opened located between N.C. State and Meredith and quickly became a staple of college life.

The Snoopy's tradition is now being carried forward by Steve and Sarah's son, Troy Beal, who returned to the business in 2003, and is now co-owner and head of operations for all the Snoopy's locations.

In 2006, Snoopy's welcomed Larry and Casey Cerilli as partners in our 600 Hillsborough St. store. They are also partners with the Webbs and Troy Beal in the new store on Spring Forest Rd.
